Testing Pinstr
Thank you for testing Pinstr. It puts your photos on a map, with where each was taken and which way you faced. It's free during the beta, which runs about two weeks or more before Pinstr launches, and new versions come often, sometimes several a week.
Before you start
- You sign in with your email address and a 6-digit code we send you. If it doesn't arrive, check spam.
- What you add is real and kept as anyone's is (privacy policy). We read problem reports, never your photos.
On Android
- On your Android phone, with the Google account you use on Google Play, join Pinstr testers, a Google Group (tap Join group). Nothing is posted there, and members can't see each other.
- Open the test page on that phone.
- Tap Become a tester, then Download it on Google Play, and install Pinstr.
- Stay in the test for at least 14 days, and open Pinstr a few times a week. Google counts the testers who stay before Pinstr can be released to everyone.
If you installed Pinstr before from a file we sent you, remove that one first. Photos only on that phone go with it, so add them to a project or back them up in the app first.
On iPhone
- Install TestFlight from the App Store.
- Open the invite on your iPhone, and tap Accept, then Install. No address needed: TestFlight uses your Apple Account.
- New versions arrive through TestFlight, which tells you. Turn on Automatic Updates there.
Tip: uploads carry on after you leave Pinstr. Swiping it away in the app switcher stops them until you open it again, as it does for every iPhone app.
What to try
- Take photos with Pinstr's camera, at work or around town, and see them on the map with the way you faced.
- Start a project or a trip, add your photos, and invite someone.
- Create a link and open it on another device.
- Use Pinstr without a signal, then watch it catch up.
- Whatever you'd use it for. What feels slow or unclear matters as much as what breaks.
Tell us what you find
- In Pinstr: Account, then Help, then Report a problem (choose An idea for an idea), or shake your phone. Say what you did and what happened; leave the screen picture on if it helps.
- On iPhone, TestFlight's own feedback works too: take a screenshot and share it as beta feedback.
- By email: [email protected].
Leaving the test
- Android: Pinstr's page in Google Play, then Leave the test. Please wait until the 14 days are over.
- iPhone: TestFlight, then Pinstr, then Stop Testing.
Your account and what you added stay until you delete your account.
